Jon Clayton – engineer

Onecat’s extremely easy-going and efficient engineer/producer Jon has been recording music for nearly 10 years. After graduating from Leeds University in 1996 with a degree in Music, he immersed himself in the London music scene whilst playing bass in Blusher (EMI/Wine Cellar). It was at this time he started to accumulate the recording set-up that has grown into Onecat Studio.

An accomplished arranger & musician himself (currently playing bass for Charlotte Hatherley (ex-Ash), Stuffy/The Fuses, Chris T-T and cello in Sargent Buzfuz) he is empathetic to the needs and desires of fellow musicians. Jon also has a flair for realising artist’s sonic visions, without being overbearing, this, alongside his knowledge of cubase and recording techniques, means that not only are sessions enjoyable, but the results are top quality too.

Jon has produced albums for purr , Siesta, Snowstorm, Wrath, Blang, Vaedratec and Wine Cellar record labels, won the WestFest (USA) Best Original Music Score Award for the short film Ten Minutes, recorded sound effects/voiceover for a professional London theatre show and has done front of house sound in a number of London music venues.

Jon has recorded bands in locations as diverse as school classrooms and a Victorian wool mill, as well as rehearsal studios and live gigs, so if you have a space you are particularly keen on, it is possible that Onecat may be able to come to you, however rates and availability for this service vary, so please contact Jon if you have any enquiries
