Jon Clayton – engineer

Onecat’s extremely easy-going and efficient engineer/producer Jon has been recording music for over 10 years. After graduating from Leeds University in 1996 with a degree in Music, he immersed himself in the London music scene whilst playing bass in Blusher (EMI/Wine Cellar). It was at this time he started to accumulate the recording set-up that has grown into Onecat Studio. An accomplished arranger & musician himself (Something beginning With L, Chris T-T, Charlotte Hatherley, Stuffy/The Fuses and Sargent Buzfuz) he is empathetic to the needs and desires o fellow musicians. Jon also has a flair for realising artist’s sonic visions, without being overbearing. This, alongside his knowledge of recording techniques, means that not only are sessions enjoyable, but the results are top quality too.

Jon has produced albums for numerous artists, won the WestFest (USA) Best Original Music Score Award for the short film Ten Minutes, recorded sound effects/voiceover for a professional London theatre show and has done front of house sound in a number of London music venues. He has also assisted in production of backing tracks for live performance, and worked as back line technician for Hadouken.

Jon has recorded bands in many different locations including school classrooms and a Victorian wool mill. So, if you have a space you are particularly keen on, it is possible that Onecat may be able to come to you, however, rates and availability for this service vary, so please contact Jon if you have any enquiries
